Visiting MTAA Kenya

Two board members of MTAA Netherlands recently visited the office of MTAA Kenya in Shianda. A moving and educational experience. Their complete account you can read here.

‘Upon arrival about twenty young people were waiting for us, most of whom are HIV-positive. They had just finished the first session and were for the most part very reserved and shy. They will gradually share their experiences with HIV in the coming workshops. A meal was ready, which was particularly welcome for a child who had not been fed anything since the afternoon before. Together we ate our plates empty.

With the staff, we worked to make the strategic plan understandable to all. The recently completed five-year plan (link) serves as a framework into which all activities must fit. This gave us a good understanding of current and future activities.

An important point was the request for a donation from Wilde Ganzen. With their additional donation, a piece of land next to the office can be purchased and used as a demonstration vegetable garden. The crowdfunding campaign for this in the Netherlands is well under way.
