MTAA has participated in the launch of the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, held at the county level in Kwisero Sub-County and chaired by the First Lady of Kakamega County. The slogan was ‘Triple Threat’.
The Kenyan government has declared Triple Threat a spearhead of its policy. Sexual violence against women, teenage pregnancy and new HIV infections are closely linked. Fighting all three gives you the best results.
Together with the assistant chiefs MTAA has continued to raise awareness of these dangers among youth and children; for example, they learn the song “These are my private parts, no one should be touching” (see below). MTAA, in collaboration with assistant chiefs, has reached thousands of youth in schools, assemblies and churches with age-appropriate information about HIV, gender-based violence and teen pregnancy.
