MTAA has been present very visibly at the World AIDS Day on 1 december in Kakamega. From their own marketstand MTAA workers were active with publicity, demonstrations and counseling. They demonstrated the accurate use of a condom (with the aid of a wooden penis) and showed wholesome food for hiv-infected persons. Free HIV-Tests were also offered; especially men were inclined to respond to this offer. Youngsters preferred to be tested in a more shielded place.
MTAA-members told their stories about how they overcame their shame. This day made clear that the struggle against new infections can only be won by working together on al fronts.
